The Hague - Veste Services focuses in particular on life, maintenance and management in, around and of buildings. In 2023 I, Niel Valkenburg, started my company 'Veste Services'. The idea had been around for some time, I always did the 'odd jobs' on the side, but above all the desire to start my own company has been around for years. With my company I carry out jobs and projects for companies and individuals.
After my HBO Facility Management education, I worked for more than 18 years in various capacities (staff/policy officer, team leader, projects or coordinating) for several types of healthcare institutions in particular. From hospital, elderly care and a mental health institution to consultancy. Especially around the theme of Facility Management, real estate management and maintenance and often also ICT related. And from now on it can be booked for various jobs.
And I can never resist doing chores. There is nothing more fun than making something yourself. As a kid all the magic when you can try everything out in grandpa's handy shed and take it apart and try to put it back together again. And that itch has always remained and later got a bit further out of hand. And if you get positive and nice reactions every time you do jobs for others, then you want to keep doing that and you continue to do that, as Veste Services. Because in addition to supporting companies and institutions with their facility issues, Veste Services also offers handyman services in the form of a caretaker service.
So my company is a special combination. But yes, I think it suits me. If it's special and a bit unconventional, which requires creativity and you discover new things, that's what I like best. With a smile and humor, just the realization that you often work on and contribute something to someone's private space, someone's safe place. One day you inform the Board of Directors about the state of affairs and the next day you are demolishing a laminate floor or hanging a curtain. Or do you assist a couple and help them with a raised toilet because the circumstances or age require it, together with your favorite plumber. Then no day is the same. Something that I have heard back many times over the years is that I am one of the few people in 'office' who understands what goes on in the day-to-day operations, what the technician experiences, what the catering has to deal with and that you do can coordinate the work with the experienced craftsman or super specialist. And that's not a gift, I'm working on that, constantly. After all, I do the implementation myself. And for so long now that I have mastered the basics in such a way that I also go on the road as a handyman. My service package therefore consists of the following three parts;
Under this heading I can be booked for example for reinforcement during projects or for project support as extra hands or extra brains for facility projects. But that may also be to strengthen the flexible shell or temporary replacement of an employee. As an advice or sparring partner when a new route is sought or the policy could be tightened up a bit more in practice.
Are there a shortage of hands in the daily management of buildings or are there projects where, for example, your buildings must be visited for an inspection, one-off adjustment or inventory. Or are there questions in the day-to-day management that a third or independent person should look into. That falls into my building management services package, with various services and often, of course, customization for building managers and owners.
The flexible caretaker of The Hague. Facility is often just getting started and being present in your buildings. I thought the term caretaker was a nice fitting term to indicate the performance of odd jobs. Under this heading I can safely provide you with the necessary maintenance, or as a temporary supervisor or host for the reception and supervision of maintenance parties, contractors or other building-related visitors.
But also as a private individual, at your home, a caretaker can of course be deployed. For the jobs around the house, as a supervisor or supervisor. As a consultant or for repairs. Are you unable to find a solution yourself, or are you short of hands during your move? As a caretaker, officially you are indeed a handyman company, I can be booked. I can do a lot of work myself, but I also enjoy doing it together with or in collaboration with the many craftsmen and specialists I have come to know over the years.
